Counseling: Response Centers' social workers and counselors provide individual, family and group counseling as well as referrals to other resources. We cover a variety of issues, including; parent-teen communication difficulties, academic related concerns, grief and loss issues, divorce, family violence, socialization difficulties, self-esteem, sexuality concerns, relationship issues, etc. Response Center also develops support and therapeutic groups, responding to needs as they arise.

Shoplifting Prevention: This program helps participants to differentiate between positive and negative risk-taking behaviors. Participants will discuss attitudes towards shoplifting, personal triggers, and feelings following the incident. The group establishes consequences for behavior, identifies personal pictures of success and outlines positive coping skills.

Alternatives to Violence: A six week group for teenagers geared toward helping participants to understand and manage their anger in constructive ways. The group will explore positive ways to express feelings of frustration and anger commonly experienced in life.

Alternatives to Suspension:  At our Northwest location, Response Center offers the Alternatives to Suspension (ATS) program, a family therapy service available to students who have been suspended from high school or high school sports activities.  Once a student has been suspended, school counselors may offer the ATS program to the student's family as a means of reducing, but not eliminating, the suspension.  The program consists of four mandatory family sessions with Response Center counselors.  The families seen in ATS often provide very positive feedback to counselors at the end of these group sessions.  The cost of the program is nominal and at Response Center, no families are refused service because of financial concerns.
